Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek have worked together since October 1994. Inspired by a shared interest in the striking dress codes of various social groups, they have systematically documented numerous identities over the last 14 years. Rotterdam's heterogeneous, multicultural street scene remains a major source of inspiration for Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek, although since 1998 they have also worked in cities abroad.

They call their series Exactitudes: a contraction of exact and attitude. By registering their subjects in an identical framework, with similar poses and a strictly observed dress code, Versluis and Uyttenbroek provide an almost scientific, anthropological record of people's attempts to distinguish themselves from others by assuming a group identity. The apparent contradiction between individuality and uniformity is, however, taken to such extremes in their arresting objective-looking photographic viewpoint and stylistic analysis that the artistic aspect clearly dominates the purely documentary element.

There was a guy today standing behind me in Starbucks (the very first starbucks, mind you) and said, "sprichst du Deutsch". I guess I just have the look of a German (hope its not the stuffy german look heha)? It was sweet, because you know he just wanted to start conversation, needed someone to talk to, needed a friend. You hurt for them because you know that is who he goes to for comfort, 'strangers.' Even if most don't go to unfamiliar faces for comfort, we all feel at one point of time like are closest 'bud' is the stranger.

(Kind of depressing, but if I write and reread it makes me feel better to write down my thoughts and many maybe can relate)

Today I got this e-mail from a friend that had gone to Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam a while back, and he just added a fun picture for the heck of it and said I am going to be on his 'list' of people he sends updates to from his travels. Such a simple picture that means a lot. Have you ever thought to put your index finger on a spinning globe and point to a place around the world and think what they are doing right then and there....wonder what you where doing when this picture was taken?

Got to, got to go check this designer out. These are amazing pictures of some of the spectancular items, but the lookbook has way more on their page and the pieces of work are incredible, one page after the next! Go!

(This one I think I like the best because it is simple. The top is paired with the same fabic of pants and seems that the top would flow over and need a silver thick belt to break the wonderful pieces apart! Love it!)

Right now I have dark purple nail polish on and I am loving it because lately I have been into wearing black (possibly because I washed all my whites with a dark red sweater..opps!) Anyway, I like this soft grayish color, different than all the black nails out there and suits any outfit this season! Also, I love headbands lately! I like them because it keeps my hair back but adds something to a plain outfit! This wrap has an old-fashion look. It is different and unique!

WHAT A STEAL OF A DEAL!

These shoes are amazing! I like them because you can dress them up or dress them down! You won't believe this, but I got them for a whopping $15! I went to Marshals yesterday in Las Vegas (it was huge!) and came across these little nuggets! Today I was interested in what they are actually going for and to buy them at Nordstorms or Zappos you are looking around 70 dollars to 130 dollars. If anyone else is interested in these 'steal of a deal,' and you can't find them for the price I found them. You am welcome to ask if I can find your size and sell them for $10 more.... there great and I am here till Tuesday...so hurrrrrrrrY!

Glitter Ideas!

I needed to get a gift..and fast! I have a friend in Germany and my father was on his way to go see others close to my friend, so I ran into my closet and picked one of my favorite newly bought vintage sequin shirts. This is a great gift! It is special and can be worn with ripped jeans and flip-flops or a nice pencil skirt with some booties..just an idea?!? Also,

here is an idea on how to wrap presents in a 'creative' way with fashion magazine!

Walking again, breathing again, and laughing again, is what my Grandmother is doing right now. She had a wonderful life and is living an even better one up in Heaven. It's a strange feeling knowing she is better where she is now, but selfishly not wanting her to go. She was like my mother in many ways my mother was not. I would go to her every time I needed help or just someone to talk to. SHE was a wonderful, loving, STRONG woman, that I will respect, love, and will tell her story even to my children. SHE was MY GrandMOM!

So, I have something to show 'n tell! I am looking into what school will fit me the best, trying to get done with this semester, and living in a new city is all over welling but very enticing! Not only does 'miss me' have a lot on her plate, but I decided to pack more in, and e-mail Seattle Fashion Week. The producer of Seattle Fashion week e-mailed me back and gave me an opportunity to volunteer. Its a start! Not only a start but I was thrown into being a model for one of the designers. Me a model? It was bunches of fun and it gave me a chance to mingle with others in the industry. If you are wanting to also peruse a job in the industry, let me tell you what I realized during this adventure.... it is all about CONNECTIONS baby! I am hanging on and going for a ride to see where this leads me. It is always so fun to never know the unexpected!

Whatcha doing with your life?

(I am trying to decide too..riiigggght now! Today I am going to see a college in the field of Fashion Merchandising---pretty excited--tell you how it goes later)

If you are looking into perusing a job in the fashion world, here are some things you need to look into....

-Get a degree (doesn't really matter what degree..I take that back--get a degree in a business related field. So you have options or if you are in love with design get a fashion design degree..with possibly a minor in marketing or something)

-Compare colleges (collegeboard.com)

-Interns...start young with little internships or a positions in retail

-Start getting to know your designers that appeal to you (which I am working on now too)

And there you go.. just a little bit of information that will go far!

This vintage looking purse is 100 % leather and the interior is a coral suede color. It has two pockets inside, one for your cell phone and one with a zipper. The exterior is a light aqua color blue and has brass knobs. The unique holes all around the purse gives it its own style. Pair this handbag with some tore up jeans and a white tee or any fun color and it will go. I have never used it so it is like new, absolutely clean inside and out. I paid over $150 for it. Although it is in new condition, if you look really close you might see some little nudges from just sitting. I am always so so easy for anyone that wants to see more pictures, message me and I will send more pictures.
