Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek have worked together since October 1994. Inspired by a shared interest in the striking dress codes of various social groups, they have systematically documented numerous identities over the last 14 years. Rotterdam's heterogeneous, multicultural street scene remains a major source of inspiration for Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek, although since 1998 they have also worked in cities abroad.

They call their series Exactitudes: a contraction of exact and attitude. By registering their subjects in an identical framework, with similar poses and a strictly observed dress code, Versluis and Uyttenbroek provide an almost scientific, anthropological record of people's attempts to distinguish themselves from others by assuming a group identity. The apparent contradiction between individuality and uniformity is, however, taken to such extremes in their arresting objective-looking photographic viewpoint and stylistic analysis that the artistic aspect clearly dominates the purely documentary element.

Umm.... today  it rained, what would it do otherwise? It's Seattle. Out of all those lovely pictures, I wouldn't mind seeing rain fall from these windows. They all look so clean and airy I just want to close my eyes and imagine I am in a whole new world, whole new culture, and whole new atmosphere...

MY (PIKES) PLACE

There was a guy today standing behind me in Starbucks (the very first starbucks, mind you) and said, "sprichst du Deutsch". I guess I just have the look of a German (hope its not the stuffy german look heha)? It was sweet, because you know he just wanted to start conversation, needed someone to talk to, needed a friend. You hurt for them because you know that is who he goes to for comfort, 'strangers.' Even if most don't go to unfamiliar faces for comfort, we all feel at one point of time like are closest 'bud' is the stranger.
(Kind of depressing, but if I write and reread it makes me feel better to write down my thoughts and many maybe can relate)

"Show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream" she said
"The one that makes me laugh" she said
And threw her arms around my neck
"Show me how you do it
And I promise you I promise that
I'll run away with you
I'll run away with you"

Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed her face and kissed her head
And dreamed of all the different ways
I had to make her glow
"Why are you so far away?" she said
"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you
That I'm in love with you"

You
Soft and only
You
Lost and lonely
You
Strange as angels
Dancing in the deepest oceans
Twisting in the water
You're just like a dream
Just like a dream

Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
I opened up my eyes
And found myself alone alone
Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me

You
Soft and only
You
Lost and lonely
You
Just like heaven

Getaway!

Mmm...I love black and white photos and photographer Mr Roger Weber is an amazing guy! I found him on Erikas Blog (which by the way is amazing, go check her out). You just want to get away when you look at these..can I?

A SONG MOST CAN RELATE TO..

I cannot go to the ocean
I cannot drive the streets at night
I cannot wake up in the morning
Without you on my mind

As always during Copenhagen Fashion Week, we turned to the king and queen of Danish-found fashion, Jenny and Søren of Copenhagen Street Style who shot up a storm. This all came from.. HERE

Those beautiful 10 minutes in life....

What's quite interesting about Michelle is her use of words. She paints this beautiful picture through her work. It's worth watching (even if fashion isn't your thing-the beauty of her passion is worth it). There was a lot of time and effort put into this (you can tell).

Earthy

Wanting to 're-do my zimmer (room in german). Wanting earthy and unique items..this project will hopefully start this weekend with all the other projects I have.. boy o boy! Here are some ideas...whatcha think?

Everyone needs to hit up "idio-tone," she just started so it's a good thing to starting following! Unique music that you usually do not hear anywhere, messages that just make sense, and most of all, many can relate to her. I want to direct you to this blog, not because she is my cousin, but because I know it will be an amazing blog!
